Potable Water & Sanitation |
|
The scarcity of potable water and the lack of access to sustainable water supplies for low-income individuals in Latin America is alarming.
There are approximately 50 million people in Latin America and the Caribbean who live without access to potable water, and 124 million people who lack adequate sanitation systems.
Contaminated drinking water has devastating effects on the most vulnerable communities. In fact, water-related illnesses are responsible for a third of all childhood deaths in the region.
The great tragedy of the water crisis is that it is largely preventable through access to safe drinking water, proper sanitation systems, and improved water management practices.
Our partners in 16 countries are improving access to water and sanitation for individuals and communities.
Programs include:
- Installation of potable water and sanitation systems
- Training programs on proper management of water systems
- Educational workshops in water purification, health and hygiene
