Over the past two decades, many Latin American countries have made strides in improving their educational systems but major challenges remain. These challenges include poorly trained teachers, inadequate funding, disorganized schools, and high dropout and repetition rates.
High-quality education programs for Latin American children and youth are essential to the region’s development. Studies by the World Bank and the UN offer strong evidence that education programs for girls are the single best investment society can make. These studies show that educating girls and women delivers numerous economic benefits for individuals and communities, leads to healthier and better educated families, reduces child mortality rates, and fosters greater political participation.
Our partners in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, and Venezuela, among others, are implementing a wide range of educational and job skills programs to ensure that children and youth have access to superior educational programs and are equipped to successfully participate in a 21st century world. Programs include:
- Early education
- Pre-K to 12th grade education
- Literacy
- Computer and technology training
- Technical certification
- Job-skills/vocational training
- Life skills
