The E. León Jimenes Foundation is a private, non-profit institution founded by the León Family and the Grupo León Jimenes to contribute to the social and cultural development of the people of the Dominican Republic. Established on November 29, 1995, its main goal is to improve the quality of life of communities in a permanent and sustainable way.
The Foundation carries out its mission by implementing projects in the areas of education, art and culture, and the environment, often with the support and collaboration of national and international partners. To date, the Foundation has undertaken two major projects: The Centro Cultural Eduardo León Jimenes (Centro León) and Radio Raíces.
The Centro León designs and executes exhibitions, educational activities, socio-cultural development programs and research in line with the thematic pillars of creativity, identity and quality of life. It has does so with such distinction that in less than eight years it has become one of the most relevant cultural institutions in the Caribbean.
Radio Raíces is the first digital FM radio station in the Dominican Republic. It seeks to offer the best quality music through diverse programs, while educating the audience and increasing their understanding of Dominican cultural heritage. It ranks among the most listened-to radio stations in the nation.
In addition to these two major projects, the E. León Jimenes Foundation specifically supports organizations devoted to improving the quality of life in the Dominican Republic.
To date, the E. León Jimenes Foundation has touched the lives of over a million Dominicans.
