Carmen Ilizarbe, Program Director, joined The Resource Foundation in 2006. She is the primary liaison for The Resource Foundation’s affiliate organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Her work focuses on the promotion of knowledge sharing and the exchange of best practices among the network, facilitating networking opportunities, and providing support on fundraising and capacity building initiatives. She also writes and edits The Resource Foundation's quarterly bulletin and a newsletter about best practices for the network.
Ms. Ilizarbe’s prior professional experience includes conducting qualitative and quantitative research with several nonprofit organizations in Peru, teaching positions in prestigious universities in Peru and the United States, and designing and conducting an analysis on the socio-economic impact of political violence on victims for the Peruvian Ministry of Women and for the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Ms. Ilizarbe is a Ph.D. candidate of Political Science at The New School for Social Research and holds a M.A. in Political Science from the same university. She also holds B.A. degrees in Anthropology and Gender Studies from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She has published academic articles in Peru and in the United States and has coordinated an academic workshop on Latin America for New York graduate students and faculty. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
